Join Dishman Hills Conservancy’s entertaining duo, Director Ruth Gifford and
Artist In Residence LR Montgomery, for a fun, entertaining, visually delightful, and
informative evening at Liberty Gallery, (on the mezzanine above Auntie’s
Bookstore) 203 N Washington Street, Spokane, Saturday, Nov 19, 2022 at 5:00
PM. Admission is free.
Meet and visit with Ruth Gifford and LR Montgomery, to swap stories about
adventures at Dishman Hills.
You’ll see, and have opportunity to collect, original impressionistic paintings of
the Dishman Hills areas you love including, Dishman Hills Natural Area, Iller
Creek, The Glenrose Addition, Big Rock, The Flying L (aka Phillips Area),
and Wilson Conservation Area.
You’ll learn about Dishman Hill Conservancy’s inspired beginnings, its visionary
founder, and about school children’s early work to preserve this natural habitat.
Did you know, Dishman Hills is Washington State’s oldest land trust!
Ruth Gifford and LR Montgomery will talk about the Conservancy’s vision, mission
and current projects to protect our community’s now 3200+ acre natural wild life
and recreational corridor, which stretches from Camp Caro (just off Sprague Ave
in the Spokane Valley) to beyond Big Rock, overlooking the Palouse on the south.
And, yes, you can collect Dishman Hill’s paintings to bring the memories of your
outdoor experiences into your home, office or recreational abode at this event.
A portion of the proceeds from the sale of paintings benefit Dishman Hills Conservancy.
Artist Talk: "Voices, Vibrance, Vision"
Local artists Shantell Jackson and Tracy Poindexter-Canton share the books that inspired their latest works featured in the "Voices, Vibrance, Vision" exhibition at the Liberty Gallery through October 29. Authors and titles include: "The Water Dancer" by Ta-Nehisi Coates, "The Vanishing Half" by Brit Bennett, "Such a Fun age" by Kiley Reid, "Hunger" by Roxane Gay.

Little Spokane River Artist Studio Tour

The tour will feature a wide variety of artwork - ceramics, paintings, photography, sculpture, jewelry, fiber arts and mixed media - from the expanded selection of favorite, familiar and intriguing new artists in unique outdoor and garden settings.
The work of over 48 professional artists will be displayed and available for purchase between the five artist studio locations within easy distance of one another in beautiful Little Spokane River Valley.
This year’s tour will feature the studios of Victoria Brace, Gina Freuen, Collista Krebs, Jill Smith, and Denise Steen along with expanded selection of favorite, familiar and new artists displaying and selling outdoors.

Office Depot/Office Max -Start Proud! is joining KREM2 Tools 2 Schools to help kids start the school year with confidence. Having the right supplies impacts students from day one. Join us on July 16th at the Spokane Valley Office Depot, 14008 E Sprague Ave, from noon to 3pm to donate, create and celebrate our community.
Spokane Paint-by-Number welcomes visitors of all ages to paint the “Pavilion” panel and become Spokane-famous.
“Pavilion” is the second of three panels that combine to complete a 6 ½ x 12-foot mural created and numbered by Geri Griffin.
The finished mural, “Riverfront Park”, will be unveiled First Friday, August 5th from 5-8pm at the Liberty Gallery located in the Liberty Building 203 N Washington Street in downtown Spokane. It will be on view at the gallery until August 28th.

Spokane Paint-by-Number is a community art project sponsored by the Liberty Building and powered by Pottery Place Plus. This project is gratefully supported by Art Chowder and Spokane Art Supply.
The 6 ½ x 12 foot three panel painting features an image of Riverfront Park created by Geri Griffin (on Instagram @ggriff108). Visitors of all ages are invited to paint this Spokane masterpiece.
“Paint-by Number” launches Saturday, June 4th at the Liberty Building, 203 N Washington St in downtown Spokane. Painting starts at 11 am and finishes for the day at 5pm. Additional dates and locations will be added until “Riverfront Park” is complete!
Participants sign up in person the day of the event and are free to wander downtown until their group is posted. Groups will be posted in batches of 10 on Instagram, or participants can check on the progress at the Liberty Building. Wear painting clothes! Everyone can work until their paint cup is empty and can sign the autograph border.
The finished “Paint-by-Number” will be unveiled during the Liberty Gallery First Friday celebration, August 5th from 5-8pm. It will be on view from August 5th- 28th. The Liberty Gallery is located on the mezzanine level of the Liberty Building, up the grand staircase in Auntie’s Bookstore.
